What are vintage Fabrics?

Typically they are fabrics created during the 1930's through the 1960's, and are generally 100% cotton. Another school of thought includes fabrics during the 1970's through the 1980's and are a blend of cotton and synthetics.

Vintage fabrics are not easy to obtain but if they are stored properly, can be just as beautiful and durable as the day they were created.

However, one should handle and care for them as you would any "fine" fabric. The allure of having an item created with these fabrics is that of owning a piece of the past and the pleasant memories it evokes.

This handmade pig is made from a vintage cutter quilt. Its reverse side is a dark green, navy blue stripe on a cream background.

It measures 12" x 17" and is trimmed in a vintage pearl shell button and green grosgrain ribbon tail.

This handmade decorative pillow measures 14" x 14".

The front features fabric is a 1930's vintage salmon waffle weave floral barkcloth. It is trimmed in burgundy cotton brush fringe.

The reverse side is a newer shimmering pewter jacquard fabric with salmon stitching throughout, a great compliment to the barkcloth.

It can be displayed on either side.

This handmade decorative pillow measures 16" x 16".

The front featured fabric is a vintage chintz from the 1930's. It has sage green leaves, various shades of beige and brown floral blooms, on a deep burgundy background. The vintage fabric has a luxurious sheen and is in great condition.

The back of this pillow features a deep burgundy ultra suede fabric. The nap is so so soft to the touch and will be extremely hard to soil. Water just beads on it, unless immersed.

The actual pattern placement may vary slightly with each item.

It's closure is hand sewn. Great combination!! 2 pillows in 1.

50's Vintage Tablecloth Pillow

This handmade decorative pillow measures 15" x 14". The front is a panel of a 50's vintage tablecloth. The colors are poppy red, various shades of green and yellow lattice borders on a white background.

The back opens to remove the custom pillow form. The fabrics are, atop is a yellow gingham check with 3 poppy red buttons and a white battenburg lace edge trim. Aside is a deep green fabric with white flecks. The pillow can be displayed on either side like having 2 in 1.

This handmade decorative pillow measures 17" x 14" including 2" ruffle.

The front features 4 quilted fabrics in the patchwork style made of roses in pinks, and red, with beige background.

There is new and vintage crochet lace and pearlized buttons as accents. The patchwork is framed in soft pink matelasse and ruffles that are pink roses from Laura Ashley. A floral pin made of vintage crochet lace graces one corner.

The back is done with Kate Pink Roses from Laura Ashley, with matches the ruffles.

It can be displayed on either side.

This handmade decorative pillow measures 14" x 13 1/2".

One side the panel of 60's vintage fruit fabric is centered. The flanking sides are a homespun check with 2 vintage blue buttons.

The reverse side features the vintage fruit flanked on the sides of a yellow check fabric accented with small white and red stripes. There are 2 vintage red buttons atop.

Its closure is hand sewn. Again, 2 pillows in 1.

It is topped with blue rayon fringe and rose colored cotton fabric that also has delicate roses, in a deeper pink and 2 blue buttons as accents.

The back opens to remove the custom pillow form. It features a medium weight cotton ticking in navy blue and white stripes, with 3 rose colored buttons to coordinate the entire pillow. This pillow can be displayed on either side. 2 in 1.
